What the research says about each ingredient

Cosmic Hue is made from plants with long histories in traditional medicine, and research exists on each ingredient individually. Here is what to keep in mind.

Marshmallow Root is widely considered safe for most people. Its natural mucilage can slow the absorption of other medications, so it is best taken at least one hour apart from any other medication. Some studies suggest it may lower blood sugar and interact with lithium.

Cat's Claw has been used for up to six months in studies and is typically well tolerated. It can stimulate the immune system, so people with autoimmune conditions should consult their doctor or healthcare provider. Some research suggests it may slow blood clotting and lower blood pressure.

Echinacea is well tolerated by most people, though mild digestive discomfort can occur in some cases. Allergic reactions are possible if you are sensitive to the daisy family (ragweed, chrysanthemums, marigolds). People with autoimmune conditions should use caution. The UK's Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) advises that echinacea should not be given to children under 12 due to a potentially risk of allergic reactions in this age group.

Astragalus has a long history in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is generally well tolerated at recommended doses. People with autoimmune conditions should speak with their doctor or healthcare provider. Some research suggests it can lower blood sugar.

Ashwagandha has been shown to be well tolerated in clinical studies lasting up to three months. Some people experience mild stomach upset or drowsiness. It can affect thyroid function and is not recommended during pregnancy. Rare cases of liver injury have been reported with concentrated ashwagandha extract supplements, so people with existing liver conditions should consult their doctor or healthcare provider before use.

Stinging Nettle has a long history of safe use as a herbal tea. It contains vitamin K, so people on blood thinners such as warfarin should speak with their doctor or healthcare provider. It is not recommended during pregnancy.

Fennel Seed is a familiar culinary herb that most people tolerate well in normal food and tea amounts. Some studies suggest it has mild estrogenic properties, so people with hormone-sensitive conditions should consult their doctor or healthcare provider.
